Internet is slow only on one Windows PC

Establish the scope

Compare the same task or download at similar times and locations, with other transfers paused. If Ethernet is normal but Wi-Fi is slow, focus on signal and wireless link conditions. If only one application or server is slow, do not infer a PC-wide adapter fault.

Apply the safer fix first

Use Task Manager and Resource Monitor to find network-heavy processes. Compare the same server, location, and connection type.

Investigate the cause

Ping the gateway, review negotiated link speed, test without VPN, and update the OEM adapter driver before changing advanced properties.

Protect the recovery path

Pause transfers through their own controls and resume them afterward. Test without a VPN only when permitted and when it is not your only remote access.

Verification

• Repeat the same transfer or interactive task using the same server and connection type.
• Check whether the improvement survives restoring necessary VPN and background applications; a different test server is not a controlled comparison.

When to stop

Do not continue with broader resets when loss persists on known-good networks or Ethernet cannot negotiate a stable link. Preserve the observations already collected and use the device maker, network administrator, Microsoft support, a qualified repair technician, or data-recovery help according to the evidence.
