Use measured workloads and built-in resource tools to locate a bottleneck. Use the procedure as a controlled diagnostic process and preserve a safe way back.
Create a baseline
Restart, wait five minutes, and time one repeatable task. Note which startup phase is slow.
Read Task Manager
Sort CPU, Memory, Disk, and Network. Sustained use correlated with the slowdown matters more than spikes.
Use Resource Monitor
Inspect files, endpoints, hard faults, and per-process activity without ending unknown processes.
Confirm the cause
Repeat the baseline after one change and restore settings that had no effect.
